Historical Note Carl Westerdahl operates Unconventional Wisdom, a consulting firm under which he has conducted a variety of historical research projects concerning Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. From 1970 to 1993, Westerdahl served as Dean of Students, Director of Alumni and Community Relations, and later Director of Constituent Programs at Rensselaer.
